Well it’s been a blast, but after 5 long years at Bournemouth University it’s finally time to say goodbye. Of course, I couldn’t do that without writing a small blog post about my time there.
I have always said that University is more than just getting a degree. Of course it helps, but the friends and memories you make along the way will be far more important than a certificate at the end of the day.
In my time I achieved many things. I hitchhiked from London to Budapest in 4 days. I started my own club/society, and even in my last year I decided to be in a play! But these things never compared to the work I did as an ambassador for the university over the last 5 years.
I have had the privilege of visiting hundreds of schools, meeting thousands of pupils and hopefully in doing so have inspired many of there futures no matter what paths they choose to take.
I always found that my time as an ambassador was never really work, simply because it had been so enjoyable. And during that time, I never realised I was making memories, I just knew I was having fun.
Whether it was doing karaoke on a long drive to a HE fair, making graduation hats with primary school kids, building Lego robots/ tanks or notoriously dancing my way through uni. These memories I made will last a lifetime, and have truly inspired me.
So one last cheesy momento from me, prepare yourself. University has defined me. In a world where you can be anything, it has taught me to only be myself. To follow my dreams, my aspirations and my goals. But most of all, no matter what others say, it has reminded me to simply and always BU. (Cheesy I know)
